Frequently asked questions & Aftercare

What is the aftercare for a piercing?

Clean your piercing 2-3 times a day with non-scented anti-bacterial soap and wound wash saline for the first 5 months. Do not use any cotton rounds or swabs, they can get caught on your jewelry. Lather the soap on your hands and wash around the actual piercing. All piercings take about 18 months to completely heal. DO NOT play with your fresh piercing or take out the jewelry to clean it. DO NOT submerge in any lakes, pools, or rivers for the first 6 weeks of it being pierced. DO NOT use any ointments, homemade salt water rinses, hydrogen peroxide, nor iodine on your fresh piercing.

When can i change my jewlery?

Sj can change it out for you at least two months after it is initially pierced. It is recommended that you don’t change it yourself for the first 6 months.

What is the aftercare for a tattoo?

If Sj applies a sheet of dermshield, allow that to stay on for atleast 2-3 days. After, peal under warm water and Clean your tattoo with non-scented anti-bacterial soap. If a gauze pad or saranwrap is placed, allow that to stay on for atleast 3 hours. Then, take off and proceed to clean with non-scented anti-bacterial soap and moisturize with non-scented body lotion. Many people like using Aquaphor. If you would like to, make sure to use a thin “chapstick” layer. Over coating can cause issues.
